Sylvia's offers a quiet haven in a mid-town setting. We are conveniently located one block from Lincoln Square Mall and all the downtown Urbana stores. A historic walking tour of the immediate area offers a welcome diversion as it takes you past many 19th century homes and businesses. Urbana is known for its fine restaurants and you will be within easy walking distance of Silvercreek or Historic Lincoln. A variety of other restaurants are located within a few blocks; the Courier Cafe, the Main Street Eatery, the Jolly Roger. Watch Belgian chocolate being made at the Baroque Chocolatier -- a wondeful chocolate facotry. You can stroll down the hill to Strawberry Fields, Champaign-Urbanas natural food store and deli, or drop into the Art Mart at Lincoln Square and put together your own gourmet brown bag to enjoy in the herb garden at Jaques House or on the Sylvias porch or patio. After hours you may want to shoot pool or play darts at The Office, break in your new cowboy boots country dancing at The Rose Bowl, or have a quiet drink at The Embassy, Tod and John's, Historic Lincoln, or Bunny's Tavern.
Getting around is easy from Sylvia's Irish Inn. If you're arriving by plane or train, we'll pick you up. You're five minutes from the heart of the University of Illinois via the Green Street bus line which stops right at our front door. We also have a bike you can use if you're feeling athletic and would like to pedal around town, over campus, or down Race Street to Crystal Lake Park for a picnic, canoeing, a jog, or a quiet walk around the lake.
Our house is your house while you are here and we want you to make yourself at home. Curl up under an afghan in the parlor or library and sip a cup of tea while you enjoy a good book or a quiet moment of reflection. Or keep in touch with the world by browsing the Internet. We will make every effort to make your stay comfortable and relaxed.
